I know, I know, it's November 5th and I'm just now updating the blog. In my defense, we sat for a week in the middle-of-no-where Texas. Ended up going through Midland and went by President Bush's ranch, that was neat I guess. I would have thought it would be better protected, but there's a fence around it with a sign telling you it's the Prez's ranch.
Anyway, the point was, we had no internet while we were in Texas and barely had a cell phone signal.
We are in Nashville Tennessee right now waiting to be unloaded. We were supposed to be here last night, but when we got here, we found out that no one would be here to unload us until this morning, so here we sit. At least we got paid for it, $20 per hour from 4pm yesterday to 7am this morning, for watching movies.. I'll take it.
We went through the smokey mountains again, they are absolutly beautiful, The Blue Ridge Mountains, I think, are prettier though.
Well, I guess that's all for now. Check out the picture page, most of page 7 and everything after that is new stuff. Talk to y'all later!
Hello All! Tonette here again. We just made a load of 1,040 miles from Columbus Ohio down to Garland/Dallas Texas.
First thing we saw when we got into Garland... any guesses..... it was a drunk. A drunk who was SO drunk that he stood there and about passed out twice while we were at the stop light. He kept sinking farther and farther down until he dropped his Texas Lotto tickets onto the road and immediately stepped onto the road to pick them up, stumbled back onto the side walk and almost passed out again. Good thing we got the green light at that point.
Now we are sitting here outside of Dallas at a truck stop waiting for a load and trying to figure out if we are going to go ahead and move or sit here until we get a load. I want to move north, but I don't know if it would be a good idea. We are on hold with dispatch to find out, but there are 2 people ahead of us and the average wait time is 15 minutes per person, so we have at least a 30 minute wait. Awesome huh. At least we can catch up on some sleep. That will be nice.
Anyway, I going to stop grumbling now and go get something to eat. It won't be as good as what we ate in Canada, but it'll have to do.
Oh and speaking of food, Mr. Squishypants the 3rd: YOU DUMB SH*T, BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME! Talk to y'all later.
Hello all! We just got back from a rousing trip into Canada. I say rousing because it almost didn't happen. We were refused at the Canadian border because our load hadn't been cleared so we had to clear it a different way and were told not to come back without the first way again but we were let in anyway.
We ate a real meal there. Good stuff. Wish I had more. Didn't get much in the way of pics because it was either raining or dark by the time we got up from our nap before we came back into the good ole U S of A.
Truely makes you proud to be an american when you cross into Canada and there is very little trash, but as soon as you get back into the states it looks like a ghetto. It is still good to be back in our own country though. At least this time it was easier to get back into the US than it was to get into Canada.
We just finished our second load for the day and are about to hit the sack. I'll try to get the few pics I have posted soon. Talk to y'all later.
Hi all! Tonette here. Just thought I'd update the blog today since we are just sitting here doing nothing until Sunday morning.
This has been a terrible week for freight. We started the week off having no driving time available so we had to both do a 34 hour restart to get our driving time back. That happened Monday and into Tuesday. Found out that there was some sort of freight strike and automotive strike up in Michigan so the loads were non existant. We finally got a load out of Memphis, picked up in Jackson Tennessee and delivered in Memphis.. back where we started. It was an 88 mile run all together which really sucked, but we figured a short run was better than no run at all. We got back to the Pilot in West Memphis where we were sleeping and slept for 1 hour and got another load offer.. the exact same run we had just finished. Turns out we did two more loads to the same place.. 3 in total. That brought us to Friday morning and we decided to move ourselves to a better freight area so on our way up to Illinois, we got a load offer that picked up in Poplar Bluff Missouri and delivered in Gladwin Michigan. The bad thing is, it doesn't pick up until Sunday morning and it's a deliver direct at 2am Monday monring. So we are sitting in Matthews Missouri about 40 miles from our pick up because it's the closest place to where we need to be. Freight sucked this week, but hopefully it will be better next week since we'll be in Michigan.
We have had some bad news about Summer this week as well, I called mom to have her call grandpa and get him to start praying for her. Her babies need her so she HAS to get better.
Well, I think I've run out of things to say for now. If I think of anything else, I'll let ya know. It's not like I won't have time.
Oh, we are going to get the truck washed soon and take a picture of it to post on the pictures page. We'll probably have the truck then each of us standing by it. One of us has to take the picture ya know so we can't both be in the same pic. Anyway, talk to y'all later.
After we finished our first load, we stopped off at a truck stop to get some sleep. We decided we were hungry so we went inside for some food and soda. While we were paying, some guy runs in and says there's a truck on fire at the deisel pumps. Everyone goes a little nuts. We finish paying and take a look outside and see a huge plume of black smoke, no it wasn't from me farting. We decide to go back out to our truck. The truck that is on fire burns to the ground. It took part of a storage building for the truck stop too. And it only took the fire trucks 15 minutes to get there and maybe 20 minutes to put the fire out. What a way to start off our new career!
Hi everyone! Well, it took me long enough, but I finally got the website back up and running. It's a little different, but better I think. Anyway, we will try to post news ASAP and updates at least once a week. See y'all later.
