Hello All
Mood:  cool
Now Playing: Brrrr

Hello All!  Tonette here.  Ok, so a lot has happened in the last few weeks.  A quick catch up, we were home for Thanksgiving after deciding to quit and come back home for good and being talked into staying by our owner.  I'm glad we're staying with it.  I missed being on the road while we were home.  We may or may not be home for Christmas, it depends on how freight is moving at the time.

Right now, we've been back to work for a few days and are on our third load, up north, but hay, up north is a good freight zone.  And I know I spelled HAY like the horse feed and not HEY like Hey man, that's how I wanted it to be said, so there!

Anyway, we're sitting in Romulus, Michigan in a winter storm.  It's snowing and sleeting right now (see pictures on picture page), and we are under load that picks up Monday and delivers 18 miles away.  As of right now, we are a go on that load, I hope the weather doesn't get any worse.  It's been said by the weather channel that we can look for 3-6 inches of snow/sleet with a possible 10 inches by tomorrow night.  We'll have to see how it plays out.

Anyway, we have a few pics of our old truck on the picture page now.  We haven't had a chance to take any pics of the new one yet.  It's the exact same model as the old white one only this one is blue and has been converted into an extended sleeper so that it fits a queen sized bed (YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!)  Take a look and come back soon to check for more updates.  Talk to y'all later.

Really tired of sitting here
Mood:  don't ask
Now Playing: aarrgg..

Hello all!  Tonette here.  I just thought I'd update the blog since we are sitting here doing nothing.  We are currently just outside of Springfield Illinois, have been since Friday evening, it is now Sunday evening and we still don't have a load.  We should have something by in the morning though.

This has been a very bad time for freight.  Nothing seems to be moving.  We actually had a really really bad week to tell the truth.  Our pay check for last week was a ZERO ballance because our fuel costs are so high.  Has any one noticed how much fuel is?  Diesel is $3.50 a gallon at the station we are sitting at right now and in California it is as high as $3.80 a gallon.  Glad we're not in Cali...

Anyway, I am NOT just going to sit here and gripe.  What I am going to do is say that we WILL be home for Christmas.  =)

Well, that's really all the news I have for now.  I will post more when I have more.  Right now, I'm a little too steamed about the current situation to think about much else and I'm sure no one wants to hear (read) me gripe anymore. =)

We'll see everyone SOON!  Talk to y'all later.

Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: I've been lazy

I know, I know, it's November 5th and I'm just now updating the blog.  In my defense, we sat for a week in the middle-of-no-where Texas.  Ended up going through Midland and went by President Bush's ranch, that was neat I guess.  I would have thought it would be better protected, but there's a fence around it with a sign telling you it's the Prez's ranch.

Anyway, the point was, we had no internet while we were in Texas and barely had a cell phone signal.

We are in Nashville Tennessee right now waiting to be unloaded.  We were supposed to be here last night, but when we got here, we found out that no one would be here to unload us until this morning, so here we sit.  At least we got paid for it, $20 per hour from 4pm yesterday to 7am this morning, for watching movies..  I'll take it.

We went through the smokey mountains again, they are absolutly beautiful, The Blue Ridge Mountains, I think, are prettier though.

Well, I guess that's all for now.  Check out the picture page, most of page 7 and everything after that is new stuff.  Talk to y'all later!

Dallas, home of the drunk
Mood:  d'oh
Now Playing: Oh yeah, life is grand

Hello All!  Tonette here again.  We just made a load of 1,040 miles from Columbus Ohio down to Garland/Dallas Texas.

First thing we saw when we got into Garland... any guesses..... it was a drunk.  A drunk who was SO drunk that he stood there and about passed out twice while we were at the stop light.  He kept sinking farther and farther down until he dropped his Texas Lotto tickets onto the road and immediately stepped onto the road to pick them up, stumbled back onto the side walk and almost passed out again.  Good thing we got the green light at that point.

Now we are sitting here outside of Dallas at a truck stop waiting for a load and trying to figure out if we are going to go ahead and move or sit here until we get a load.  I want to move north, but I don't know if it would be a good idea.  We are on hold with dispatch to find out, but there are 2 people ahead of us and the average wait time is 15 minutes per person, so we have at least a 30 minute wait.  Awesome huh.  At least we can catch up on some sleep.  That will be nice.

Anyway, I going to stop grumbling now and go get something to eat.  It won't be as good as what we ate in Canada, but it'll have to do.

Oh and speaking of food, Mr. Squishypants the 3rd: YOU DUMB SH*T, BE MORE CAREFUL NEXT TIME!  Talk to y'all later.

Ah back into Canada we went
Mood:  don't ask
Now Playing: Too much trouble!!

Hello all! We just got  back from a rousing trip into Canada.  I say rousing because it almost didn't happen.  We were refused at the Canadian border because our load hadn't been cleared so we had to clear it a different way and were told not to come back without the first way again but we were let in anyway.

We ate a real meal there.  Good stuff.  Wish I had more.  Didn't get much in the way of pics because it was either raining or dark by the time we got up from our nap before we came back into the good ole U S of A.

Truely makes you proud to be an american when you cross into Canada and there is very little trash, but as soon as you get back into the states it looks like a ghetto.  It is still good to be back in our own country though.  At least this time it was easier to get back into the US than it was to get into Canada.

We just finished our second load for the day and are about to hit the sack.  I'll try to get the few pics I have posted soon.  Talk to y'all later.

AAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Mood:  irritated
Now Playing: Arg
The trouble continues!  We've been sitting here at the shipper since 6am, we were supposed to be here at 7am, we were early.  It is now 9:16am, we are still not loaded.  When we got here, no one knew anything about the load so we had to wait until someone else got here at 8am, then he tried to load us with far less than we were supposed to be picking up.  After many conversations with dispatch, we are sitting here at the shippers loading dock until 11am at which point we take everything they have managed to get ready and heading off to our consignee.  At least we are getting detention pay for the next 2 hours.  Althought I'm not sure how much detention pay amounts to, I'll take it.  We were scheduled to pick up another load as soon as we dropped this one off, but now it doesn't look like we'll be able to get there in time to get it.  If they can arrange a later pick up time for it, we may still be able to haul it, otherwise, we will have to wait for a new load to come through.  Hurry up and wait.  That's the name of the business.  Anyway, I guess I'll go stew on the fact that we are probably going to miss out on that second load... we better get a load after we get there and it better be a better load than the one we are probably going to miss out on because if it's not they are going to have some makeing up to do, I'll expect several bonuses on it to make up for any loss of miles and fuel surharges.  Sometimes you gotta play dirty to keep things fair and even.  Can't let dispatch string us around like that very much.  Anyway, I'm done griping.  Talk to y'all later.

Now Playing: Bad week

Hi all!  Tonette here.  Just thought I'd update the blog today since we are just sitting here doing nothing until Sunday morning.

This has been a terrible week for freight.  We started the week off having no driving time available so we had to both do a 34 hour restart to get our driving time back.  That happened Monday and into Tuesday.   Found out that there was some sort of freight strike and automotive strike up in Michigan so the loads were non existant.  We finally got a load out of Memphis, picked up in Jackson Tennessee and delivered in Memphis.. back where we started.  It was an 88 mile run all together which really sucked, but we figured a short run was better than no run at all.  We got back to the Pilot in West Memphis where we were sleeping and slept for 1 hour and got another load offer.. the exact same run we had just finished.  Turns out we did two more loads to the same place.. 3 in total.  That brought us to Friday morning and we decided to move ourselves to a better freight area so on our way up to Illinois, we got a load offer that picked up in Poplar Bluff Missouri and delivered in Gladwin Michigan.  The bad thing is, it doesn't pick up until Sunday morning and it's a deliver direct at 2am Monday monring.  So we are sitting in Matthews Missouri about 40 miles from our pick up because it's the closest place to where we need to be.  Freight sucked this week, but hopefully it will be better next week since we'll be in Michigan.

We have had some bad news about Summer this week as well, I called mom to have her call grandpa and get him to start praying for her.  Her babies need her so she HAS to get better.

Well, I think I've run out of things to say for now.  If I think of anything else, I'll let ya know.  It's not like I won't have time.

Oh, we are going to get the truck washed soon and take a picture of it to post on the pictures page.  We'll probably have the truck then each of us standing by it.  One of us has to take the picture ya know so we can't both be in the same pic.  Anyway, talk to y'all later.
